Hello Curry Lovers! Welcome to my creative outlet, fueled by my perpetually grumbling tummy. My name is Suhasini, and I am the creator of this food/travel/lifestyle blog.
I created this space after a lot of thought, effort, and yummy experiments. I asked friends and family, and they supported it. So here I am!
Much of the content you see on here are food staples that I grew up with, with the rest being recipes that I have concocted and tweaked in my lab (kitchen). However, I also will be sharing my personal experiences and insights into a world of travel, yoga and mindful living.
Having an Amma (mother) who is a world-class chef definitely nurtured my love of the culinary world. While growing up, I had the privilege of showing up at school with a delicious, homemade lunch, instead of having to eat whatever meatloaf the school decided to serve that day (I was jealous back then…I know, I’m shaking my head too). My Amma taught me everything from the basics on how to cut onions without crying, to how to make a full-blown Sri Lankan feast in 2 hours. Since I grew up in a vegetarian household, you will also see A LOT of vegetarian/vegan recipes, and almost all curries I make can easily be substituted with your favorite vegan or vegetarian protein (I’ve tried them all!). My parents also raised me to ball on a budget when grocery shopping, so most of my recipes are budget friendly and easy to make!
Now, I’m sure you’d LOVE to know more about me as me (if you’re still around)! I am a classical Bharatha Natyam dancer, a yoga teacher, a professional, a dog mom, a travel aficionado, and a human being who took a gap year after college.
In undergrad, I did my Bachelor’s in Chemistry, which is amazing and terrifying, but gave me incredible analytical and critical thinking skills I’ll constantly use in my career. I have no idea how I survived upper-level chem and probably would’ve been less stressed doing something else, but chem is TOO cool not to study (right Prof A?!). Anyways, I realized close to graduation, that this year was the only sure-shot chance I’d get to take this kind of time off and do anything I wanted. So with the support of my family, I DID IT. Hands down, the gap year remains the best decision I have made in my life thus far. I wrote an article about it on LinkedIn, so feel free to check it out if you’re curious about how my year went.
So, thank you for visiting my page! I hope you try some, or all of the recipes. You may love or hate them, but I encourage you to tweak recipes to your own liking once you’ve tried them. Be sure to take pictures, share and tag me when you do make them, I am excited to see it!
Hope your tummies never stop grumbling!
Love always,
Suhasini
